The young'uns down in North Carolina are branching out.
Chad Michael Murray — perhaps tired of being asked, "What's next for Lucas?" — will set out to actually unspool what's next for his alter ego, as the writer of a One Tree Hill episode airing late this coming season.
I have also learned exclusively that Bethany Joy Galeotti is ready for her own "first time" — as a director, and will call the shots from behind the camera for one episode.
Offering each multitasking cast member expert guidance in their respctive endeavors will be series creator Mark Schwan. — Matt Mitovich.

Well, here's a fun riddle for you savvy mathematicians:
The lovely Michaela McManus (One Tree Hill's Lindsey and former receptionist at our E! building gym) has just been cast as a series regular on Law & Order SVU, playing the new assistant district attorney.

Meanwhile, you may remember that Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) called up and proposed to someone in the latest OTH season finale—either Lindsey or Peyton or Brooke.
What does this all add up to? The OTH writers crying in a corner somewhere.
At least, that's my guess, since not only is the loss of Michaela a, well, loss, but this casting news sure seems to point to a Lucas/Peyton or Lucas/Brooke pairing—or at the very least, a not-so-bright future for Lucas and Lindsey.
In the meantime, what do you think of Michaela's new gig? SVU is lucky, no? And more importantly, the money Q: Whom will Lucas choose?
Presenters at the 16th annual 2008 ESPY Awards, to be handed out in July, range from Lance Armstrong to Zac Efron to Jet Li.
Hosted by Justin Timberlake, the annual ceremony deals out awards to athletes using fan-based voting.
The complete list of presenters is as follows: Lance Armstrong, Jason Bateman, David Beckham, Kristen Bell, Sophia Bush, Ashanti, Zac Efron, Brendan Fraser, Samuel L. Jackson, Jet Li, Steve Nash, David Ortiz, Candace Parker, Danica Patrick, Annika Sorenstam, Kate Walsh and Luke Wilson.
ESPN said more presenters may be announced in the coming weeks.
The show will be taped July 16 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles and televised on ESPN at 9 p.m. on July 20.

In a day and age when the world is infatuated with the scandalous side of celebrity and the misadventures of some of today's young female stars, One Tree Hill actress Hilarie Burton is a breath of fresh air. In fact, she's living proof that rising female stars can provide hope to those in need within their own generation through strength and positive messages. Although TV fans know Burton as the brooding and artistic teen harlot, Peyton Sawyer, on One Tree Hill, Hilarie recently got the chance to show a completely different side of herself next to Malcolm McDowell and Chuck Carrington in the southern faith based thriller, The List, which is now available on DVD (as of June 10).
Much like her character in The List, Hilarie Burton found herself on a journey of exploration that allowed her to reaffirm her own faith and belief in a higher power. On Monday, Hilarie phoned in to The Deadbolt HQ to talk about her time on The List, her views on faith and what it means to be a Christian girl in Hollywood, how she navigates the real world evils of the industry, how she's different than her character on One Tree Hill, her USO tour of Guantanamo Bay ... AND, whether Dan will be returning to the series and if we should all have faith that Peyton Sawyer could be making wedding plans this season.

Sophia Bush finally spoke out about her split from fellow actor Jon Foster.
The 25-year-old One Tree Hill star told Us Weekly Monday that she and Foster “broke up, like, a year ago… I am single. We are really good friends. We keep in touch, and we love each other to death… You can love somebody, and not be in love with them, and I think that was a really valuable lesson. We weren’t ready to get married, but it definitely doesn’t mean we don’t care about each other.”
The actress, who had a 20-month-long marriage to costar Chad Michael Murray, added, “The only two men I have time for are Barack Obama and my trainer. So those are my relationships… I love that [Obama] is the first politician who doesn’t feel like a politician. Senator Obama is the one person who’s saying, ‘We can change everything — but it can’t just be me, and it can’t just be you.’”

(I am.) In other news, Nanny Carrie is back! And so is Brooke’s mom! God help us all. If Nanny See You Next Tuesday so much as touches a hair on Nathan, Haley or Jamie’s heads, I will fly right out to N.C. and snap her in two.

What have been the most difficult scenes for you to film?
There was a scene with a lot of dialogue and it was really emotional. I think mentally those things are always very difficult. A three-page scene could take three hours to shoot. Even though on TV it is only a minute, you have to stay in one space for so long. There are camera setups and changes and you have to wait around. I think I can speak for all the kids on the show that the hurricane episode that we did in season three was the hardest. We all had to be in pairs in these scenes outside in the rain. When we were shooting, it was about 34 degrees in Wilmington [Del.] that week. They had massive rain towers dumping ice cold water on you and these huge fans to blow the wind around. You are standing in front of a fan that is 10-feet tall and it is so loud that you can’t hear.

I'm Danielle. I'm 17 years old and I absolutely love One Tree Hill. I've been making graphics for a while now, I even want to major in computer graphics. But now I can make graphics of my favorite show! I live in New Jersey and I love to have fun. Family and friends are a huge part of my life, and I wouldn't make it as far as I did without them always supporting me. Life is too short to not have fun, so live your days as if it's the last. I'm one of 5 kids, but the oldest. I love big families; and I'm proud to come from the family that I have. I am a very friendly person and will listen to anyone, even if they are trying to make me a better person. I'm very independent but when people ask to help, the more the merrier. Bay Village’s Kate Voegele got a boost from her appearance on a recent episode of One Tree Hill. The singer-songwriter’s latest album, Don’t Look Away, catapulted up the Billboard charts to No. 78 and sold close to 10,000 copies (no easy task in today’s market) in a single week. Her cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” which she performed on One Tree Hill, can be found on the digital version of Don’t Look Away.
